"Spaghetti"

Sorry y'all it has been a little crazy this month, I will try and be better at posting more recipes.

This one is super simple! My son loves it!

Regular pasta really has zero nutritional value and at this point in our youngsters lives they need so much to keep their little bodies moving and healthy.

"A 1-cup serving of cooked spaghetti pasta contains 200 calories, 7 grams of protein and 40 grams of carbohydrates, including 2 grams of fiber."

That right there my friends is NO GOOD! For you or your child. Now when they are in middle school/high school and in sports (especially boys) that is a different story. But lets talk about a healthy alternative.

Not everyone wants to spend an hour making homemade pasta(yes it does take a while). We all know anything made at home from scratch is ALWAYS healthier than what you buy at the store or eat at a restaurant. So here is something that is so much easier!

SPAGHETTI SQUASH!!

Nutritional Facts:
"Like other winter squashes, spaghetti also is very low-calorie vegetables. 100 g fruit provides just 31 calories and contains no saturated fats or cholesterol; however, it is rich in dietary fiber, anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins. The vegetable is one of the food items recommended by dieticians in the cholesterol controlling and weight reduction programs."
- "It carries anti-oxidant vitamins such as vitamin-A, vitamin-C, and carotenes in small amounts on comparison to pumpkins. Vitamin-A is a powerful natural antioxidant and is required by the body for maintaining the integrity of skin and mucosa. It is also an essential vitamin for healthy eyesight. Research studies suggest that natural foods rich in vitamin-A may help the human body protect against lung and oral cavity cancers."
- "The squash boasts higher source of the B-complex group of vitamins like folates, niacin, vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine), than in pumpkins."
- "It is also a modest source of minerals like zinc, copper, calcium, and phosphorus."

Now just compare the two and see which one you would rather eat yourself and feed your little ones. You don't even have to tell them it is squash, tell them it is regular pasta and BAM they eat their veggies!

Alright now here is the recipe:

First, cut your spaghetti squash in half and place it face up(make sure you take the seeds out) on a sheet pan. Drizzle some olive oil on top along with a sprinkle of pepper. Place in preheated oven at 400 for about 45min to an hour.

Next, take a pound of ground beef and place it into a skillet with a little bit of coconut oil.
Add some rosemary, thyme, and a pinch of pepper. Then just fully cook it.

Once the squash is done cooking take a fork and scrape out the insides into a pot. You can add anything to it. Pasta sauce(depending on how your little one handles the tomato acidity), Alfredo Sauce(if your child isn't lactose intolerant), Pesto (my favorite) or even just butter and a little garlic.

Once it is all heated up just add in the meat!!

I hope y'all enjoy this one, I know we did!

God Bless Y'all💓

p.s. Just tell your husband it is regular pasta too. If they are anything like mine they won't even try it if you tell them the truth😉
