Butternut Squash and Plums!

My son is 1.5 years old right now and snacks ALL DAY LONG. He never really eats "meals" but will snack every hour or so. Personally, I believe snacking can lead to obesity and an unhealthy life style (when combined with the 3 meals a day). Even without eating is 3 meals a day, I still want to make sure he is getting all the proper nutrition his "little" body needs.

That is why squeezie packs are a LIFESAVER! But I absolutely refuse to buy them from the store. Why trust food that can sit on the shelf that long! Have you even counted the number of days it was in a warehouse or 18-wheeler being shipped to it's final location? It scares me so I try not to think about it.

Moving on from that little rant of mine....this recipe I just through together and it is awesome! It isn't really sweet, which I am a huge fan of. When you make everything sweet, of course you child will eat it. BUT, then they will turn town those delicious savory foods you make because it isn't sweet enough for them.

Here is the recipe:
1 (2lb) Butternut Squash
2 Black Plums
Olive Oil
1/4 c Bolthouse Strawberry Banana
8 Squeeze packs

This Recipe costs about $5 to make 8 Squeezies!

Organic Squeezies at the store cost anywhere from $0.98-$1.78 EACH

Here is how to make this:
1. Preheat oven to 400F
2. Cut Squash into 5-6 pieces (hamburger style) and remove seeds
3. Place on Sheet pan and drizzle with olive oil
4. Cook until you can easily slide a fork into the thickest piece
5. Wait until they are cooled
6. Cut off skins and cut them into 1-2 inch cubes (they don't have to be perfect)
7. Place into blender, food processor, or bowl with the 2 plums already cut (if you are using a Emulsion blender, that is what the bowl is for).
8. Add in 1/4 bolthouse juice
9. Puree
10. Distribute into Squeeze Packs

After that let your little one have at it!!

Hope y'all enjoy!! God Bless💗
